How to choose the right spiral classifier

Date: Sep. 04, 2021

A spiral classifier is a device that classifies solid particles at different sedimentation speeds in the slurry. The spiral classifier is divided into a high weir-type spiral classifier and a submerged spiral classifier. How should users choose in production? Let’s take a look together.

spiral classifier

1. Choose according to the number of blades

A large number of blades is conducive to increasing the classification area and easier to meet higher maneuverability requirements, but at the same time, it also makes the classification equipment more complicated. Therefore, in addition to meeting special requirements and being restricted by mineral pulp, a smaller number of blades should be used as much as possible.

2. Choose according to the fineness of grinding

The height of the overflow weir of the spiral classifier affects the size of the sedimentation area of ?? the ore. In the production, we can choose according to the requirements of the grinding fineness.

The height H of the overflow weir of the high weir spiral classifier is 1/4-3/8 of the spiral diameter D, which is mainly used for ore classification with an overflow particle size of 0.83-0.15mm. The H of the submerged spiral classifier is 3/4-1 of D. It is mainly suitable for ore classification with an overflow particle size of 0.15-0.07mm.

3. Choose according to processing capacity

The width of the spiral classifier tank has a great relationship with the overflow discharge speed. The wider the tank, the faster the overflow discharge speed, and the greater the possibility that the coarse particles will be discharged with the overflow. But on the other hand, the wider the trough, the larger the settlement area of the ore, which is easier to settle.

Therefore, the trough width of the classifier should be compatible with the processing capacity of the grinding machine. When purchasing, you should pay attention to the trough width of the spiral classifier and the processing capacity of the grinding machine, and choose a suitable spiral classifier.

4. Choose according to the production process

To obtain a coarser overflow and deal with materials that have high specific gravity and settle quickly, the rotation speed of the spiral can be appropriately increased, but it should not be too large, otherwise, the classification effect will be destroyed.

Therefore, the spiral speed of the classifier used in the two-stage grinding or grinding cycle should be as slow as possible, and the appropriate spiral speed can be determined according to the production process, and then the appropriate spiral classifier can be selected.
