Four Useful Tips From Experts In Trommel Screen

Date: Oct. 31, 2020

The drum screen is a piece of common sorting equipment in mining screening equipment, suitable for wet and viscous materials. The roller device is inclinedly installed on the frame. The motor is connected with the roller device through a coupling through a reducer and drives the roller device to rotate around its axis. The following is an introduction to the matters needing attention when choosing a trommel.

1. Selection of Sieve Plate

If it is a material with a large aperture, it is recommended to use a perforated screen (aperture greater than 5mm). The perforated screen is very different from the woven mesh in the production process. The punching plate is circular, and the interface butt joint is more integrated and easy to manufacture. The process is more durable, and the punching plate can be made from 304 stainless steel and ordinary carbon steel. The woven mesh is made of round steel with the same wire diameter. When the material is too large or too heavy, it is easy to deform and the material will leak.

2. Frequency Converter

It is forbidden to reverse the frequency conversion speed regulation during the forward rotation, otherwise, it will cause the motor short circuit to be more serious, and the main body of the drum screen will be deformed. During the frequency conversion process, the gear should slow down slowly so that the body is at a standstill, and then reverse in the opposite direction.

3. Export Standard

The design of the outlet of the trommel screen is also very important. Blocking often occurs. It is recommended that the angle be as vertical as possible and the diameter should be larger to facilitate the smooth output of materials.

4. Daily Maintenance

1). The support shaft of the trommel screen should add weight as much as possible between the mesh surfaces to remove the residue on the screen and prevent clogging.

2). Bearing seats and gearboxes should be regularly checked for lubrication, and oil should be added and changed in time. Under normal circumstances, add grease once every two months, and the amount should not be too much, otherwise, it will easily cause the bearing to overheat. All bearings should be cleaned and inspected once a year.

3). When the equipment is out of service for a long time (more than 30 days) and restarted, the motor insulation should be shaken to avoid burning the motor.
